Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Anyway to age a rabbit?

Hiya,
me and the other half adopted a couple of bunnies last week and we couldn't be happier to have become bunny parents :D

It's my first time having rabbits as pets however and he's not had rabbits since he was little so we're obviously still learning. This website has been a great help though!

We're planning on getting the girls spayed but I've been told that you should wait untill they're 4-6 months of age before you do this, however we arent too sure what age the girls are as they were abandoned. The shop we got them from believed they were from the same litter which i believe as the markings are very similar and seem to be bonded. However Buffy is alot bigger than Willow so we're not 100%. The shop believed them to be approx 12 weeks of age but wasnt to sure either.

Is there anyway to age a rabbit?

Also what age should a rabbit be getting there vacinations? and typically how much does it cost?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks :)

I'm no expert, but I just wanted to say that I have a pair of sisters and one has always been much bigger than the other. They don't look alike at all, but we first saw them when they were 3 weeks old and they are definitely from the same litter! You can have them vaccinated now, and ask the vet to guess their age. I'm afraid I paid £120 to have my 2 vaccinated but I think from reading on here that my vet was pretty expensive - and it was their first vet visit so perhaps I was paying for a check-up too.

Love the names. Im a massive buffy fan
I was only £25 each for mine for the combi vaxi

I'm not sure in terms of determining their age, but if you take them to the vet to get their jabs, the vet might be able to help? In terms of vaccination cost, Luna's cost about £40, which I think is the higher end of the scale in terms of price, but that is the only vet I really trust with her in this area, so I did not mind paying a bit more.

Thanks for all the replies guys. I think we'll do as advised and just take them to the vets as they need there vaccinations anyway. Might ring around for prices though, sounds like the the price varies an awful lot! Lol

They arent aggressive or displaying any of the signs of sexual maturity that you listed so they may still be abit young yet to get spayed but we've got vouchers to get them spayed for free so I'm not too worried about the price of two trips it's just trying to save them to stress of two trips to the vets.

Thanks guys :)
