Bella might have cancer :'( U/D: Spoken to vets

Oompa-Loompa

Warren Veteran

Just found huge amounts of blood in her litter tray

She's 4 years old and not spayed

Can't stop crying I'm so scared

It could be a UTI but a prompt Vet consult is needed

I really hope that it is nothing sinister

Have you checked that the blood is actually coming from her lady bits and not from something like a torn toe nail ?

I haven't checked her over but as it's in her litter tray and has proper clots in it I'm assuming it's coming from down there rather than some sort of injury

I'll try to contact a vet today but I'm not sure which one, the local ones are awful and the one I thought was rabbit savvy refused to treat Boris which resulted in his death earlier this year (he had snuffles)

The other specialist vets are 2 hours away. Obviously if there are no other options we'll take her there but I don't know.

I feel so guilty, I had a feeling something wasn't right but couldn't put my finger on it  what if it's cancer oh god  I'll never forgive myself

Important thing is to get her to a vet asap. Could you post up and ask for a rabbit savvy vet in your area? Otherwise it might have to be a case of taking her for the two hour drive to a specialist. Could you maybe ring them up and ask to speak to the vet for some advice?

They are in Sweden so unlikely many other members will know :(

I remember the issues Oompa had finding a vet before :(

So sorry. I hope it's not as serious as you are anticipating.

The specialist who wouldn't give antibiotics was a bit tied with legislation, if I remember rightly? They might still be your best bet with a completely different health issue, though I can understand your reluctance to seek their help.

I really hope it's not what you are thinking it is.

Ah. Ugh, that is difficult.

Is there any chance that you could maybe go to a vet that may not be rabbit savvy, and ask them to contact the rabbit specialist and get advice on what to do?

I hope you find a solution soon. x

I'll try to contact the vet closer to me, although I have very little faith in her now obviously due to her refusing to treat Boris when he was so poorly. I'll also contact the one 2 hours away to hear what they say. I trust their judgement more and if an operation is needed they're more experienced etc.

Won't be able to speak to anyone until I manage to calm down though, I've been crying nonstop for an hour

It may well not be cancer, try not to worry too much.

My Sooty was 6 years old and unspayed. She had a massive bleed but it wasn't cancer. She had an emergency spay and was fine.

Hope you can get something sorted soon, thinking of you xxx

Yeah but it wasn't just antibiotics she refused to give him, I asked for Metacam as well to at least keep him comfortable and she looked at me as if I had two heads. Mentioned Bisolvon too, all the usual stuff - same reaction. It's possible that she has more experience with cases like this but I still don't have much faith in her. I don't know :(

Thanks, that makes me feel a bit better. I just always think the worst in situations like this  She seems fine in herself, eating like a horse, binkying and flopping etc. but just the other day I just got this feeling that something was wrong, you know? :( This can't have been going on for more than a day though as I'm paranoid about this stuff so would've noticed sooner

Thanks everyone :(

Trying to calm down as she's picking up on my anxiety and getting nervous. Gonna spoil her rotten today.

I hope she's ok x my Daisy lost loads of blood, i thought it was coming from down there too, but it turned out to be a very sore hock x

Did you manage to contact a vet.

Reading what you had to say, I remember your thread about your bridge bun! I am very sorry that your vet refused to treat him. :( I remember how upset you were about this and about Boris.

Try not to worry so much. I know it's difficult, but getting into a state and thinking the worst won't help matters. You don't know what is wrong and if it is cancer, I would think that she would have lost condition, so either it isn't cancer or you have picked up on it very early and so will hopefully be treatable. :)

*Big hugs* Let us know what happens. x
