Socialising dog with rabbits

Nicola1

Hi everyone

I moved back in with my parents nearly a year ago and the bunnies have always been fine with the dog, but now they are frightened of him. He is a Labrador and if anything he seems a bit scared of them I doubt he would ever harm them.

I don't want to let him near the rabbits but obviously it is the dog's garden too and he has to be able to walk past them and maybe sniff them a bit without them getting frightened - what is the best way to do this? or is there another solution?

This is only short term and hopefully I will be moving soon but in the meantime I don't want either my rabbits or my parents' dog to be suffering any discomfort or unhappiness

I don't mean free ranging the rabbits when the dog is there, I mean the dog walking past the shed/run  I would never risk free ranging them together

I know its not the same but kinda, when we first got Pooh obviously he could go all over the house but the buns weren't sure at all of him, when he passed them I gave both them a treat and Pooh a treat if he ignored them, positive reinforcement really works :D
