I have a problem, I might need someone to look after the buns

I always take Grim and Smoo with me when I visit my parents because they're on long term medications. No one here can do the medication due to being allergic to penicillin.

However my sister has had to move back to my parents with her two rabbits. The last time I was down Grim and Smoo stayed in her bedroom but now it's full of all her stuff and she's staying in another room.

Her rabbits have the garden and Smoo's presence causes referred aggression in my sister's rabbits. There is nowhere else in the house for them to stay. We're working on some ideas but right now I don't think I can take them with me.

So if I want to see my parents I need someone who can look after two ill and infectious rabbits who need a lot of medicine and specialist care. Hvae you got any idea how I look for someone to do that?

They both have pasteurella I believe. Grim has snuffles, Smoo has abscesses and other lumps. They are both on painkillers, but Grim also has oral antibiotics, injections and needs to be nebulised. So I don't want to just leave them with anyone. :? I really have no idea what to do.

I'm sure there will be someone who will be able to help, maybe even a rescue for a donation?! Hope you get it sorted

I would offer as we have a spare room upstairs and room in the garden. But, I am at work all day so not sure I could handle their meds, also Widget has demonstrated referred aggression in the past, so not sure how she would react. A weekend could be feasible I suppose.

Cheryl, "sgprescue" might have a better solution, or maybe see if your vet has any suggestions?

I live too far away sadly or I would have been able to do it as I am used to looking after poorly buns.

Thanks all! I will ask my vets too. If you'resomewhere between Yarmouth and Manchester it wouldn't be impossible but I don't have a car which makes everything awkward.

Ooh, now that's a thought. But how do people feel bringing snuffles buns into a house with other rabbits? That's what would worry me.

It wouldn't have worried me as Furby had snuffles anyway and any bunnies I board are kept in a separate room from my own indoor rabbits. Furby's wife, Faye, had a close bond with him and she never developed snuffles so I think as long as sensible hygiene precautions are taken there shouldn't be a problem.

Hopefully you will find someone nearer to your or your parents who would be happy to look after them for you.
