Hi all. I went to give the rabbits their morning hay and while still putting hay in the hutch for Roxxy, Harmony and Fuzzy.... I heard sneezing. At first I thought it was Fuzzy as he does sneeze every so often (vets said it is probably irritation from the tooth root issue he has as they checked his breathing for snuffles etc and found no trouble there) but when I looked at him he was still. I looked back into the bed area where Harmony and Roxxy were and it was Roxxy sneezing. I did panic and shouted for help. But when I got her out to be checked over I immediately looked at her nose but there was nothing there... no white gunky stuff, no wetness around the nostrils... and she hasn't sneezed as far as I can tell since this morning. They have been out in the run earlier and I recently put them back. No odd behaviour. I have read up that rabbits can be allergic to certain hay?
We get hay from pets at home and I did notice that the current bag we are using does look different to the previous bag so maybe something in it caused her to sneeze? And I did notice it was a little dusty which may also have caused the sneezing?
I am keeping an eye on her and I did try to check her breathing, I put my ear to her chest but it didn't sound raspy or anything wrong. To compare I listened to Harmony and Scruffy as well and all three sounded the same. I just don't want to lose another rabbit if I can help it but I don't want to stress her out if there is no problem. What should I do, just keep an eye on her and if she sneezes a lot more make a vet appointment?
