Having left the vets last night £120 lighter than I arrived I was wondering what people paid for the combi vaccination?

I paid £45 for the combi vaccine and a very brief health check, it seemed steep to me but I know the other vet near to me charges the same...

The rest of is was for the cat, vaccination and flea treatment (both of which should last the year!)

I've done it as a poll.

Hannah :)

£33 including a quite thorough health check. I don't use the cheapest vet in town by a considerable margin but they're the second nearest so Ludo doesn't get a stressful journey and by far the most rabbit savvy.

My vet charges £37 for combi. The local jolleys store has a Wednesday vaccination clinic and thats £25 .

I've voted £31 - £35 but it's actually £38 for the first rabbit and £32 for second and subsequent at the same appointment. I normally get charged "2nd rabbit" even if I only take one though. I can also get it done locally for £30.

Edit to add: I'd rather pay more to see a rabbit vet than find somewhere that does cheaper vaccinations as for example Erin was found to have a jaw abscess during the health check, I don't know how long that would have gone undiscovered if it hadn't been found that day (and dealt with the day after).

It's £20 at Holly house in leeds, including full health check :) and that's with a rabbit specialist

I've just paid £99 each for the two boys for vaccinations for life at Vets4pets, otherwise it is £45. a year
As they are both under one it seemed good value:D

Combi vaccine is £21.50 each :) massive saving seeing as the individual vaccines were £14.50 each!

That's the thing, I don't seem to be making much of saving it being in one vaccination! I think the vets have just put their prices up! It used to be about £30 for a single vaccine now about £50 for the double so an extra £20, ok your pet gets full cover so it's still cheaper in the long run. But is the actual price of the vaccination that much more expensive, afterall you don't get any more of the vets time. Are they just putting their prices up because they don't want to loose out with you only visiting once a year now? I'm feeling a bit sceptical!

Hannah :)

£25 each, but thats a discounted price because I take 5 buns at a time. I think the usual price is between £30-£35.

I can't remember  i think it's between £30 and £35. It used to be £20 three times a year so saves about 50%.

£45 sounds high to me

also re health check
Please if anyone take any animal to be vacs and the vet either doesn't check anything or does very little..ask them to check the animal BEFORE the vacs
A vet is not allowed to administer a vaccine to an unhealthy/ill animal so when you see " includes free health check" they are not giving you anything
the minimum they should do is look in eyes, ears, nose, check genital area, condition of fur/hair and listen to chest..our vet also checks teeth ( front and back)..and on request weighs them.

Don't accept a lazy vet..you are paying so ask for what is meant to be included

Very good point Jill :thumb:

Mine was £20 by they were offering £10 off at the time. Even at £30 thats a big saving at 3 x jabs at £20 each.

I paid £45 each for Popcorn and Jelly. However I've bought the Vac4Life (£99 each) from Vets4Pets so from next year I don't have to pay.

Thank's for the check list Gill!

I can confirm that the vet did listen to her chest, had a look at teeth and general head area (but didn't seem to look as thoroughly/take as long as I've had vets do so before), he only looked at the fur on my request as she has had a touch of mites recently and I wanted him to check it was cleared up ok (of course I've been checking fequently myself), she wasn't weighed and I don't recall him checking here ears - I have to confess I didn't really notice these things had been omitted until I was driving home - in all honesty it is part of what made me start this thread (as I didn't feel I got value for money!). Now I feel bad...

This is the second vets I have tried in the area as I wasn't happy with the first - but perhaps they aren't any good either! There is only one other local one to try - and that is a medivet one, which is a chain I have heard bad things about so avoided! Is it so hard to find a good vet???

I also seemed to go on reptile night!!!

Hannah :)

While we're chatting about the combi, anyone's bun had it for the second time? Scamp was feeling a bit under the weather after it last year (first time) but this year you wouldn't know he'd had it. I was just wondering if anyone else had the same experience? I thought perhaps as it was new it hit him a little harder where as perhaps this year his immune system was used to it.

None of mine had any problems with it :) We're having the stray bunny, Charlie, vaccinated next week so will have to see how she reacts as I don't know her personality yet. Hopefully she's fine :)
