Some help with bunny boarding for a neurotic "mom"

dortoto

Young Bun
Hi there,

I hope someone will be able to give me a bit of advice. I have a house bunny and am very attached to him, spending most of our days together, he is more like my baby than a pet. I have to go away for a week in September and for the life of me I can't find anyone who could take care of him in such a "hands-on" manner. It kills me to even think of leaving him and just checking in once or twice a day for food and water etc. He needs attention and love.

Does anyone know about someone like this? I live in South West London and would really appreciate advice. I have noticed the pet sitter swop website but I don't know how well it works and everyone I phone mostly provide basic boarding.

Thank you in advance.

Eugenie

I sympathise... I find it really hard to leave my house bun. Its different to my outside two as a house bun is dependant on you for company. And in my experience you get more attached.

Could anyone on here help? I would but I'm in Swindon . Or do you have reliable friends or family?

Hi dortoto, I'm rather too far away for you.:(:( I do bunny boarding and specialise in caring for house bunnies on a VERY small scale. Namely bunny is in my lounge, can watch tv, listen to the radio and basically become one of the family during their stay. I'm around and about most of the day and if I do go out it is usually only for a couple of hours at a time.

I really hope that you manage to find somewhere perfect for your bunny. Best of luck.:thumb:

I sympathise. In the end I went away for a week (having worried and stressed about how my outdoor and my indoor rabbits would cope without me). A friend came and checked them twice a day. They were absolutely fine. When he called round to visit a few days after I got back they were all really comfortable in his presence. It took them a couple of days to adjust (they just ran off at first) but then... no problem. Hope you find somebody sweet and trustworthy for your rabbits

Hi everyone, thank you for replying. It's too bad you live so far away, please let me know if you come across anyone who lives closer or who might know of anyone. This is very frustrating, unfortunately I don't have family close by and my friends are all busy with this or the other and they don't really understand my affection for Bob. We once asked a couple to come live in our house for a week and they actually laughed at me, I thought it was quite logical ;)

Thanks again!

oh Tuckerbunnies, I am going to look at the site pronto!

Dortoto, whereabouts exactly do you live? I live near weybridge in Surrey and depending when this is I might be off work that week. PM me if you want more info

Hi Kavanne, I am in Isleworth, it's 24 minutes to Weybridge, I checked! I am not 100% sure about the date yet because we are struggling with airline tickets but I think it will be 14/15 Sept to the 21st/22nd. I am definitely interested, please send more info!!!!! Thanks!

Dortoto there are some excellent bunny boarders down your corner there, I take mine from Essex to board with one of them. There's Helen ('the duchess' on here) who is probably nearest to you, she is in windlesham and runs a small bunny rescue called the rabbit crossing and has dedicated boarding accommodation including for housebunnies which is huge, lots of attention guaranteed for you bunny. The other two I know of over there who are also very knowledgeable and have excellent facilities are the little warrens (farnborough I think) and winnersh warren in reading.

It's worth getting in contact to go and have a look and checking availability around the time you're going. Good luck x x

Thanks for the mention Alison.

Hello. I do bunny boarding and am in Woodley, Reading, if that's not too far and you are still looking? If you would like to have a look at the website it is at www.dandeliondenbunnies.co.uk.

I have rabbits of my own, and other pets, and could accommodate your bun in a Ferplast 120 (at night and if I am not supervising) and with the run of the dining room/kitchen for large parts of the day, I am at home most of the time, plenty of cuddles and tlc.

I hope that you get something sorted.
