'Buddies Bunny Rescue is overjoyed to announce that we have received a major funding award!
The Weir Charitable Trust awarded us £2500 for the purchase of a large shed to house rabbits. The vast majority of rabbits taken in to the shelter are indoor rabbits. Our Charity Committee realised there was a real need for more space to house these rabbits - as the shelter is run from Nat's own home, it was felt in the long term that a permanent facility to house these rabbits, should be made, rather than being kept in Nat's spare room!
The funding award has enabled Buddies Bunny Rescue to purchase an 18ft by 12ft outdoor shed, which has been built in the grounds of the shelter. Heating and lighting will be installed, so even in the depth of winter, indoor rabbits can be housed in here and kept warm and dry. This facility also means Buddies can take in more indoor rabbits in the future, at any one time. We have a permanent waiting list of rabbits waiting to come in to the shelter.
The work to erect the new shed is commenced mid May, with the groundwork and slabbing taking place first, before the delivery of the shed last week. Electricity will be installed and individual rabbit pens will be built inside. The work is estimated to take several weeks to complete so the facility should be available by the end of June.'
