  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Ellie apparently still v sleepy after C&S-do I let her stay at the vets?

I took Ellie in at 2 this afternoon for her C&S. The vet nurse rang at 5.15 to say she was waking up nicely and hopefully I could pick her up at 8 tonight.
They asked me to ring before I set off to make sure she was ok to come home but apparently the nurse had syringe fed her a little bit and Ellie had gone back to sleep! They have a vet there til 11 tonight but what happens if they keep her in. She is bonded, and Bandit is with her so no probs there, but do they have a staff member on site or what happens, I've never had a bunny stay out overnight before:(
How long does it normally take for the anaesthetic to wear off or is it different bun to bun?

They have hospital status so there is a vet and nurse on duty all night. She will be monitored throughout the night.

Thanks Tracy, its v posh there...when I rang up at 7 to see how she was, the receptionist said she'd put me through to the 'Ward Staff Nurse'  They are all so lovely though....and Hanna loves you!!!:thumb:

Vibes for Ellie!
PM is back home ,I collected him at about 6. He's fairly normal, maybe a tad quieter. Got 2 lots of abx and metacam ! What fun I will have syringing all that. ..
