What hutch to get?

first78

Young Bun
We're looking to upgrade Autumn's hutch...she usually free ranges in the back yard when we're home but as we're looking at getting her a friend we're wondering whether to get a hutch with a run attached as that's what the RSPCA recommend.

Does anyone know of any well priced websites to buy from or can anyone recommend a particular type of hutch please?

I've heard a lot of good things about this hutch/run combo. It's also so fantastically cheap that you could afford to add an additional run (minimum 6 x 4 foot) to it to extend the space. The extra run can be added a few ways: http://www.runaround.co.uk/products/bridge-link if you don't want to move it, and http://www.runaround.co.uk/products/connection-kit-2 if you do want to move the run to get fresh grass.

Something like this would be great http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/8ft-x-6ft...757?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item4ac468a32d

Unfortunately we don't have the room for a shed, so it really does have to be a hutch. I'm hoping to find something for under £100...is this being totally unrealistic?

Saw 6 foot by 2 foot by 2 foot hutch on ebay for 115.00 - free delivery. Dont know how to find the link... its from the happy hutch company.

Yes, to get a hutch and a run it's totally unrealistic - sorry. The £168 is the cheapest for a (secure and well made) hutch and 6 x 4 run by far, so looks like you'll have to save your pennies for that :)

Stay away from metal runs for unsupervised access, as they're nowhere near predator proof and bunnies can in fact lift them straight up and escape.

How big is her current hutch? If it's 4/5 foot and that's why you want to upgrade it, you could perhaps get the 8 x 6 run I linked above for £100 (and 20 to deliver) and put the hutch inside that. Then you don't have to pay any extra to join them up. Just make sure you use tarps to make it more weatherproof and cover the top with a shower curtain/tarp/plastic etc. Also, it'd definitely be an idea to board over one or more of the sides to give more protection. Then you can save up for a 6 foot hutch (some are about £115/120 delivered) and attach it at a later date?

You could get one from Friday Ad or Gumtree for under £100, in my local area recently every week there's been a 6ft one for under 100 quid.

If you're looking at the Happy Hutch set up then just to let you know it's slightly cheaper on the Happy Hutch website at the moment at £164. I had one delivered this morning :D
