Safe and Natural Rabbit Litter

Alpha Buck
Hi,

I was using Tumble Fresh for 3 months before Christmas and one of my buns, Charlie, kept getting Stasis (every two weeks). I stopped using it as I believe he was eating it.

Can anybody recommend another litter (I've been using Back2Nature), but it's really expensive and whilst I like it, would like to know if there's anything a bit cheaper. It's quite important as their litter trays are in our living room!

I use Fitch recycled bedding now and am very impressed with it- it's made from recycled paper, is pretty much dust free and lasts for ages. We bought a bale (£15.49 for 20kg) about 2 months ago and it's done plenty of litter trays as well as the hamster and degu cages with only a small dent into it. They're quite big pieces so should be harder to eat (hopefully)

Have a look here: http://www.fitchrecycling.co.uk/animal-bedding/horse-bedding.html

Oh that looks quite good - I thought the Tumblefresh was a bit 'fluffy' if you know what I mean?!

Is this like Megazorb?

I had a quick look on google and it does look very fluffy! This isn't as fluffy as that though it is quite soft- there's a whole thread on the hamster forum I'm a member of, I'll find you a link. This is a picture of it though:

It's a lot bigger pieces than megazorb, but a lot softer, less smelly and more absorbent I think, not to say much better value! The bale you get is HUGE!

UD: This is what they're saying on the hamster forum where I found out about it:

I am thinking of changing their litter as Megazorb is fine and dust like when they dig into it, thanks for sharing! Where do you buy it from? x

Other people have mentioned it but megazorb is very good. I can take a picture of some when it's light tomorrow if you'd like to see it close up? I know google pics are sometimes so rubbish!

I had issues with litter eating and also feet cleaning, I now use these:

http://www.brit-pet.com/

You put the litter in the bottom and hay in the top, that way they can't access it to dig/eat it and also the urine is kept away from their feet :)

I use megazorb in the bottom as it's so cheap.

I use Fitch - thanks to biscandmatt1

My buns tried to nibble when first switched to Fitch but no more nibble observed. Cheap and cheerful.

Also have used SmartBedz, lasts smell-free for ages. Only problem is will expand very badly if eaten.
