  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

He's on loxicam 1.5mg/ml and 0.9 mls

He's been fine, eating, moving, washing, but kept looking a bit uncomfortable and so I have him some and an hour later he stopped eating :( same thing happened last night pretty much, his eating slowed after having the pain meds and he looked like he was in more pain after than before :?

Does the Vet know what the primary problem is that is ?

Is he also on Ranitidine (Zantac) ?

Yep, he's on Zantac and Emeprid as well, I've just given him a tummy massage and he looks a little less in pain, but not still miserable :( he's taking some mouthfuls of hay now though which is good. It's just strange that he takes a bad turn about an hour after having his meds :? Could one of them be causing it? Or is it just a coincidence?

Metoclopramide (Emeprid) can cause gripey tummy pains

Maybe that's it :(

He's still not good, don't want him and Lilly to have to suffer a vets trip if it's just the medication and will go away once worn off. I'll keep a close eye on him, he's still not eating and not comfortable :(

Thanks for your help :)
