The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Rear guarding - critical health issue - help needed

New Kit
Hi, I have 6 bunnies and rear guarded all of them on Thursday. Friday morning one of my buns was soaking wet whilst the rest we drying. He was off his food, which I know can be a side affect. I dried him and kept him warm. Come Friday he was wet again, showing blood round his gentials and making squeaking noises and has a droopy tail. It appears he is wet from urine. i took him to the vet whom have admitted him. They don't know what's wrong and giving him pain relief, springe food, antibiotics but believe this isn't down to rear guarding just a coincidence. They can only offer supportive care at present but he's not looking good. He was fine on Wednesday so I am sure it's something to do with the rear guarding or the process of putting it on. Has anybody else had problems or ideas? EC is a possibility but he didn't show any signs of ill health before.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Martin : Bunny male - around 2 years, neutered, fully vaccinated and was in good health before.

I have used rearguard before but not had any problems. Sounds more like a coincidence and more of a urinary issue or stones as Jane has mentioned. Are they able to take a conscious x-ray to eliminate stones?

Sending him lots of vibes for a quick full recovery x

I'm sorry I can't help, but I have heard of other buns having bad side effects from Rear guard before. Maybe do a search on the forum for related threads?

I hope your poor bun is ok :(

It is possible he was subclinical ie not showing signs and the rearguard has just exacerbated an existing problem so just a coincidence.
Some diagnostics like x rays and bloods would be beneficial
Sending lots of vibes for your bunny
