Drinking own urine, does your rabbit do this?

When Doughnut was litter trained I obviously never say this, since she's been ill I've noticed a few times that when she tiddles she than laps it up. I know some rabbits do this but can this mean she is deficient in something like salt or is it just normal?

In my experience of owning bunnies they do occasionally like to drink their own wee!!!:roll: It has never lead them to have any problems, but obviously if this does become excessive I would investigate further.

Drinking wee..............euch!!!

Ahh thank goodness someone elses rabbit is as strange as mine!!
We had some problems litter training her so put some puppy pads down and she loved 'drinking' off these

mine don't, but bisc did at one stage. can't remember if it was when he had dental issues and anaemia, or when he had cystitis. :? he wasn't well at the time though, i remember that much.

shouldn't be an issue if they just do it a little bit though.

Mimzy has done this in the past. I often wonder if it was a signal that he was about to get his head tilt.
I think if it's just once in a while it's not a big deal, but I would ask a vet if it gets excessive.

Ginger does and after speaking to several people, including my vet, it's often when she's feeling utter rubbish and is often a sign her kidneys are hurting her in our world

Oh no, I hope she's not in pain. With all the meds I'm hoping not but I think the propalin may make her feel a bit rubbish as she is more jumpy as it affects the nervous system. She's fine with me but if she hears a noise she runs under the table.

I've called my specialist and mentioned it but they have a new person working there and normally the receptionist goes off and talks to him and rings me back. She just tells me to call back next week and will pass the message on and will call back if I need to change the medicine. I may next week ask her to call me back again like last week once she's spoken to him. With all the issues she's had I want to make sure it's all OK and not a sign of anything. I wondered because she is have some alfalfa hay whether it tastes better than normal! Probably a silly idea.
