  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Ellie refused her breakfast so got in at the vets quick sharp. He cant feel anything in her tummy but said to treat her for stasis. Given her 2 injections, one of Emeprid and the other is Rheumocam. I'm only on my phone atm but cant find anything on here about it...she's most certainly not impressed whatever it is. Hope its right :(

Rheumocam is the same as Metacam/Loxicom- active ingredient 'Meloxicam'

Thankyou Jane, so long as one of them's a painkiller and the other is a gut stimulant I'm happy. She's not moved a muscle since we got back...and she was pretty bright before we went. Suppose a thermometer up her bum is enough to make anyone want to sit still.

Right, off to watch like a hawk for droppings and eating. Thankyou x

The Emeprid is Metoclopramide- the gut motility drug

Ellie is probably feeling stressed from the trip to the Vets, so I'd just try to observe from a distance for a couple of hours. Leave some tempting food within easy reach and a bowl of water.

She's drinking a fair bit, gonna leave her to settle and then clean out the litter trays so I can see what's what! Vet said to give her 5ml pineapple juice 3x today but that's just going to stress her even more.

She's well practiced at the art of vet visits lately and she's not normally like this. He spotted a 0.5mm spur so thats the next step if she doesn't brighten up. C'mon Ellie, get tucking into your goodies
