  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Peeing everywhere...

Beau Belle

Mama Doe
Hello

I'd like your advice please: my lovely Poppet has started peering everywhere (on anything that's soft), which isn't like her. She's spayed, and bonded to her two bezzie mates.

She's eating, drinking, pooing and bouncing about as usual. We moved recently (October) and they have a new room, but all three seem settled and happy. They have a big tray, and a regular sized tray between them, which gets cleaned out every two days (unless wet,in which case the trays get done more often).

We recently ran out of megazorb, so used only newspapers, straw and hay for a few days, but should that matter? She' s peeing on towels, fleeces and on my bed. We've had a couple of incidents before, but I've put that down to her being naughty as it was one-offs, and she was showing some sulky behaviours such as ripping paper etc.

I don't know whether to just put more trays out, or worry?

Sorry no advice but one of mine is the same she pees on anything soft like blankets rather than her litter tray....very frustrating. I have tried pushing her into her litter tray when I see her doing it but it doesn't work :( She did go through a phase of wanting to pee on the sofa but luckily she has stopped that now.

our bunny suffers from incontinence periodically, leaving little puddles where she has sat for a while. It seems to be the result of E.cuniculi infection. we used to be able to resolve this with a dose of panacure.
