  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

im looking at different prices of spaying a rabbit , went to one vet at the moment and asked how much it was and the lady said £179.50 , was in abit of shock . now i need to look for some more prices and see who be the best to go to.

Wow, that is expensive! Costs do vary, but usually between the £60-£90 range. Why don't you start a new thread asking for bunny-savvy vet recommendations in your area to get some ideas of other recommended practices you can call for prices?

Good luck :)

I'ts £69.72 at my vet, and they're quite expensive compared to the other vets in my town.

I think the cost for my 2 girls was £70 - £80 (can't remember now, been 2 years ago).

That's each, by the way, not total. Total was max £160.

I think that £180 for one rabbit is a rip-off and would therefore avoid that vet like the plague!!

I was £150 for spay and microchip plus drugs plus check over and nails check. So yeah yours is far too much. I would find another vet.

My BOYS cost £80 each at our vet. Not had a girl done but I thought that was a lot.

 That sounds an awful lot too! Drugs are included at my vets, and ok maybe they'd charge an extra tenner for the chip but the rest I'd expect them to look at for free if they were spaying anyway!

hi sheps  not sure what vet you asked at but i use highcroft vet in whitchurch and polly and jemma are the 2 rabbit specialists and they're great. not sure how much they charge for a spay as my girl was already doe when i got her but worth an ask as they are fantastic :thumb:

Corrrr blimey that's a lot  and I thought my medivet would be the priciest but going by posts on here a castration for £57 and spay for £62 ain't bad

i will be enquirying further with this to make sure i get a good price but also good care for the rabbit

Does that include bloods? I ask as some vets will charge for blood tests as well in order to check the rabbits liver and Kidneys are functioning normally before the actual spay :)
