Rabbit savvy vet needed Worcester-ish ASAP

yaretzi

Wise Old Thumper
I'm in Droitwich and I'd like to see if there's an especially rabbit savvy vet nearby for my vets visit with Nena tomorrow. She may have dental problems so I'd ideally like someone with experience in diagnosing dental problems and with spurring back teeth.

If you recommend me a vet could you possibly give me the pricing of a consultation, teeth burring, diagnostic tests/xrays etc if possible? I'm prepared to pay to have her treated of course, I'd just like to be a little prepared.

She is insured (with petplan) but until I re-read the policy I'm not 100% what they'll cover. I know they don't cover burring/rasping teeth, but perhaps they'll cover further tests if she needs it. I'll look into it.

yaretzi, I can thoroughly recommend the de Montfort veterinary surgery in Evesham and Pershore. The real bunny savvy vet is called Andy Barside and he is fantastic. All of my bunnies have been seen and cared by him over the years.

Hi is....................................brilliant.:thumb::thumb: 01386 446095
Best of luck.

It might be a bit far for you to travel, and I see that your appointment is today, but I highly recommend Marie Kubiak at Manor Vets, Edgbaston: http://www.manorvets.co.uk/contact-us/

Good luck and I hope Nena's dental exam went well

Thank you! It's a little far but if I need something specialised doing, I don't mind travelling :)

Thank you, I had heard of him but wasn't sure if it was for good or bad reasons! If I'm not pleased with the vet later on I'll definitely try him. Not too far to travel which is fab!

Pete at Acorn vets in Studley specialises in dental work. He keeps the gnashers of the Hopper Haven Rabbits in check and is brilliant at working on correcting misaligned teeth by knowing how to buyers them to give the best grinding surface for the teeth. We wouldn't use anyone else for dental work. I don't know the r regular process but they are competitive

Hi there. Vale Vets in Kidderminster is excellent. I especially recommend Monica, who is a rabbit specialist. She did a lip reconstruction on my seven year old doe last year under GA.

I definitely second this :thumb: My boy ONLY see's Andy now due to a bad experience with another vet, and he is brilliant, very knowledgable and friendly.

Thank you for your suggestions :D Nena is currently under the care of Claire at DeMontFort vet hospital in Evesham. I rang DeMontFort last Friday and they recommended Claire (I don't think Andy Barstow was working that day?) but both are rabbit savvy. Claire is fabulous, I couldn't be happier with her! And Andy Barstow was at the Evesham branch and checked out Nena's x-rays, so she's basically under the care of two fabulous vets!

Perfect!!! :thumb:

I've just come back from taking a poorly bunny to the vets. It is the first time that I have seen Claire, but like you say, she is fabulous. Great understanding and empathy with bunnies.:D:D

Best of luck Nena. xxxxx
