  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Lady Jane

Wise Old Thumper
There's something wrong with Lady Jane, she doesn't look her normal self and she is doing soft big poos. Could it be teeth I wonder? We are booked in tomorrow morning. I have had her 6 and a bit years and she has never had an off day.

are they excess ceacotrophs? could she have upset tummy, ie has she had any different food or new spring grass which is richer at this tme of the year? is she eating ok?, are there any other symptoms, good lluck at vets

No they are normal poos, no she hasn't eaten anything out of the ordinary and she is eating. Hopefully the Vet will find the problem. She's eating differently, I think!

Well I took her to the Vets and she examined her tummy and surrounding area but nothing untoward there, then she looked in her mouth and said there was a couple of sharp bits but nothing that should bother her? I think she must have been sitting in her wee as her fur was stained underneath so I gave her a wash when we got home. Vet gave me Baytril, Panacur and Fibreplex. I put the medicine on a piece of bread but Lady Jane had gone in the bedroom to have a wash so I dashed to the loo and the 'phone rang. When I got back outside I assume a bird had pinched the bread so I hope it will be OK! I think it got a bit more than it bargained for! She seems a bit brighter this tea-time.
