Alpha Buck
This week i noticed my dwarf lop has developed sore paws, there are small patches with out fur that are red on all four paws and a small scab on one of her hocks.
She's never had this problem before so i'm trying to figure out the trigger, they are housed on a mixture of concrete, carpet and fleece but she has been on that for the past 5 years with out problems so i dont think that is it.
The only thing i can think of is she was recently bonded so is now sharing a litter tray with my boy who has kidney issues and has had two courses of anti -bis recently due to infection so therfore his urine is very strong smelling and there is alot of it (when he has the infection, which is currently cleared up). I've been changing the litter tray twice a day and trying to keep it as dry as possible, so could it be urine scald rather than classic sore hocks? but if that was the case wouldn't both of them be sore ?
I'm not sure how to treat it, i've read a few of the many threads on this subject, i don't think she's at the stage of needing dressings so i'm going to pop some sudocream on for now but other than that i'm unsure what to do?
Edited to add - i'm taking her to the vet tomorrow anyway and she's on daily painkillers for an unstable fracture so please don't worry about her being in discomfort.
