  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

vibes for Lula.. on way to vets :-(

Mama Doe
i went to feed and put the rabbits in last night and Luka seemed a bit quiet.

this morning I couldn't find her in the shed and she was in the bed part of the hutch I have in there.
took her out and she is walking a bit wobbly and kind of twitching. she refused food and lays down as soon as she stops walking.

I have an awful feeling she has EC.
just booked her in at the vets. :(

does this sound like EC to anyone else?

Thankyou everyone. She suspects it is ec. Lulas eyes are flickering causing her to loose her balance. She has been kept in for observation. Starting her on lapizole and something to get her eating. I collect her at tea time

The fact that she has the Nystagmus now as well as being off balance does make it sound like EC.

If it is then she will need Metacam (or similar) as well as the Lapizole.

EC is a nasty thing for bunnies to have but they can totally recover from it. She might have a rough few days. I would get her some of her favourite foods to tempt her to eat, some nice fresh herbs.

Vibes from me xx

thanks Kermit. I called to Morrison's after leaving her and picked up some herbs.

I have so many things in my head atm. I have 2 girls and one boy, the girls were very hard to bond but they have been together 3 years now but I am not happy to separate them.. so.. questions..

1) should they still be ok together? I know the other 2 will need lapizole as well as a precaution. I also know about spores etc and the importance of keeping things clean.

2) I REALLY have nowhere inside to keep the rabbits. will Lula still be ok in the shed as long as I check her regularly?

my head is all over!
