Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Cheech&Suki

New Kit
Hey all.
My mini lop boy molts ALOT its coming into winter but he's def molting all wrong like hes molting into a summer coat (I live in Australia) I have a boy and a girl, She has her summer coat and when i groom her she is lovely not patchy like him he has short on top and at sides hes more fluffy and molty.
Hes been like this for a month atleast, his poo's are normal he still binkys around, they get out in the garden a few times a week but i tend not to like putting them out due to the humid weather just now and mozzys and we cant vacc for myxy over here, any suggestions on what could cause it?? their diet is oaten hay unlimited and then pellets at night then fruit and veg a few times a wk as a treat. ill try and post pictures!:D

Pictures might be helpful. I think some house rabbits just molt crazy. My bridge bunny Chrissy always seem to be molting all year out of season.
The other rabbits that I have had seem to molt on cue from the seasons even though they didn't go out much.
Julie my present rabbit mostly molts from season to season but also seems to molt from stress. She always molts when I leave her. I am in a southern state in the USA so she lost her winter coat a couple months ago. I just left her with my husband for 2 weeks to care for my mom who has terminal cancer and lives half way across the country. I returned Thursday and she was molting like crazy but it seems to be slowing down a bit as of today.
