Hi,

I am after a 8ft run and need to buy one urgently... can anyone see anything wrong with the run in the link below? does it look good quality? is the mesh suitable?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Large-Rabbit-Run-8ft-x-4ft-/281094623168?pt=UK_Pet_Supplies_Small_Animals&hash=item41728b8fc0

Thanks!

It doesn't say the gauge of the mesh BUT custom hutches and runs are normally considered quite good, their fb stuff is lovely! :p

I believe that that run is the bigger version of the one aly&poppy has, and she often recommends it! :thumb:

Might be worth emailing them to see the mesh gauge but I think it should be a good run.

Thanks Hele :D

It says the mesh is 25mm, I thought that seemed quite big but I'm not really up on what size it should be. I had a feeling someone had this run but couldnt remember who! I'm quite keen on this run as they are fairly local to me so I'm hoping for reasonably quick delivery!

I always go for smaller mesh because it's harder for foxes to get their teeth round it and mice can't get through. Ours is 13mm or 10 mm squares I think.

My only problem with that is the lack of sun/wind/rain shelter in it. Sun particularly in the summer.

That's easily fixed though you could get one of those little houses to go in it or buy a horrible little hutch to stop it ending up as a rabbit's house and put it inside.
Towels and pegs can be used as sun shelters or simply just put it under a tree.

I *think* yaretzi had/has this run and the first one was dangerously broken, the second one had to have something done to it too I think.. Might have been another run though, but this run has popped up a few times, Summer&Skye was advised against it I think. Not sure

The run that I've got has little doors on top but is only 6x4, I think welfarehutches sell really good runs at a good price :)

Eeekkk! I've ordered it now :? hopefully it will be ok, I need one up and running for next weekend ready for adopting my new girly bun, I can always adapt it. I would have spent more but also want to get a runaround system and a wooden hut for inside the run (sshhh hubby doesnt know yet )

Well, if you get it and it's clearly not sturdy then you can always complain.

Have you got a girly bun chosen yet? That's so exciting :D

Aly&Poppy is right, this is the run I have. It's terrible. The first one was awful - it arrived scratched all over from transit, with split wood in many places and the mesh was coming off. The second one was nearly as bad but I had to keep it as N&T and myself were moving that weekend. When constructed I found it very, very flimsy due to the fact it's 3 x 2 panels screwed together (with 2 screws per panel ) instead of a longer piece at the sides. They don't provide you with any batons to strengthen it and give it some structural integrity. The mesh was floppy and not taught. The wood used is very poor quality and was covered in massive bits peeling off and I still get splinters from it now. The mesh is fine except for where it comes off. I haven't replaced it yet because #1) money and #2) with a lot of faffing we've made it safer and more solid. It's still terrible though, I'd never ever purchase from them again based off the 2 awful ones they sent and their poor customer service. There's not a day that goes by that I don't regret buying from them instead of stumping up more money and getting a decent one.

EDIT: Because the 6 foot side lengths are made of 2 panels screwed together with 2 screws, they buckle outwards and inwards. The pieces were cut off square and as such it's impossible to get it to sit square and therefore it's impossible to attach bolts.

Other people have no problems with them. Perhaps they've improved, or perhaps our standards differ. Either way, I hope yours is fine.

EDIT#2: I realise all the above rant may worry you since you've already ordered it. I did buy it off them 2 years ago, so they could have improved since then!
