Down hill again today, i hate snuffles!

Busters really suffering with sneezing today. The daily IM injections of Duphapen-Strep are no longer working and we are still waiting to receive his nebulizer. Hes having Bisolvon and ive put albus oil on his blankets

He's been like this all day

Its happening like every half hour- an hour and it goes on for ages, then he looks exhausted and tries to sleep for a bit. It just feels like he's never going to get better at the moment. Please can we have some much needed vibes xx

Oh no how distressing. :(

Mr Bennett was like that several weeks ago but septrim cleared it up almost straight away and he has been fine ever since, except for a dental.

Mega mega vibes for Buster.

I actually didnt start videoing it til about 10mins in! It can go on for up to 20mins at a time. Im going to show it to the vet. Though i did call them again today and tell them how bad he was but they said we really need the nebulizer as that will make a big difference (fingers crossed) but it takes up to 3 weeks to come though and we only ordered it a few days ago :(

Its just awful seeing him like this, he's so tired as its kept him up all night as well. Just as he nods off it starts again. Poor little mite

I know, it freaked me out, the sneezing was so bad I thought he sounded like he had whooping cough. I originally had baytril but the vet decided to change to septrim, might be worth trying as I was amazed how quickly it worked, although he had a chest infection too.

Hope the nebulizer arrives early.

I'm so sorry - Bluebell used to get like that and it really is distressing to witness.

Can your vet prescribe you metacam, it can help reduce the inflamation in the nasal passages.

Also I always found weather affected Bluebell, cold wet days were fab for him. I used to put him in the steamy bathroom while I had a shower to give him some relief when I was waiting for his nebuliser.

Poor Buster and poor you!! Is your vet not able to loan you one until yours arrives? Might be worth asking as my vet did. I so wish you were close to me because I have one sat here now that is no longer needed as Roger passed last September. I also had much better almost instant results with Septrim as well, and as someone else has said that, maybe you could ask your vet to prescribe the same for Buster. I'm in Rugby, Warwickshire, so if by any chance you know of someone coming this way then please pm me, and you can have mine, but I would ask about a possible loan.

Thanks all, my vet doesnt have one sadly as i did ask if they had one i could borrow. Hes been on metacam but it doesnt really help and it causes him to have a dodgy stomach.

As for the Septrim i'll ask when i go in next, is it injectable or oral?

I'd recommend you search the forum for my threads on Ginger, she was just as bad as that and sometimes worse, has exactly the same issue - happens so frequently and then she got exhausted and couldn't move for ages - had to put water bowls and food next to her, or she wouldn't eat/drink.

I can't recommend a nebuliser enough, it literally turned Ginger's life around.

I second the idea of metacam - it helps with inflammation, Ginger is on it for her whole life for this and her teeth.

There's so many things that can help with snuffles, but I don't have the inclination or mental state currently to write it all down.

Has your bun had a full C&S test done by the vet, whilst off of abx for at least 2 weeks?

Im not overly sure, he's had so many things done as he suffered a huge reoccurring abscess in his tearduct (caused by the blocked gunk in his nose) and it wouldn't go so they literally hit it with so much that ive lost track of what tests were done. We've now changed vets to a specialist who's taken over from the other vet too so its even more confusing now. One thing for sure though i really cant carry on with these IM injections, he's resisting more and more and its hard enough getting the location right anyway with out doing it against such a fight. His back is covered in scabs and it must really hurt, i dont think im going to put him through them anymore, i hope the vet understands, i feel like im refusing something that they feel is the best thing for him, sadly its not made a drastic improvement enough for me to warrant sticking him with a huge needle every day of his life :(

Hi,

I can't help but wanted to send vibes as that video is distressing.

Wish I could help but my inbox is always open if it gets too much and you need a listening ear as if that was Ludo I know I'd find it overwhelming xxx

Thanks Hesperus. Owning Buster in general has been overwhelming and distressing at times, he's had problems non stop since he was 6months old (he's now 2yrs old) from dental issues, abscesses and loss of weight to incontinence and collapsing. He's totally worth the trouble but i do wonder how all of this effects him. When it comes to Buster its generally 'whats next' as opposed to 'yay he's better' sadly

Thats so distressing, I almost cried poor little mite. I have no help but I just wanted to give him hundreds and thousamds of vibes. Xx

So similar to Ginger it is, but just to give you hope, Ginger manages fine :)

This is her when she was sneezing badly, you should of seen all the white sticky gunk that came out during this;

Poor ginger :(

Yeh Busters exactly the same but it takes a lot of sneezing until anything comes out. It looks like hes sneezing out mushed up pellets at the moment, the gunk is thick brown  its disgusting, actually thought it was poop on the floor til i saw him sneezing it out!

That suggests its getting lower if I remember rightly :(

I think he needs some serious heavy treatment.

Oh dear that's not sounding good at all now it is travelling lower. Have you contacted the company you have ordered your nebuliser from, as most of them do offer next day delivery, and I actually got mine 2 days after ordering. I really would look at giving the Septrim a go, today if possible, and steam your bunny over a bowl. This helped Roger a lot as it really loosened it all up, but did mean I had to sit under the towel with him.
