  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

If he is actually leaking urine then this is indicative of a problem. Possible issues are a low grade UTI, bladder sludge, a problem with the innervation of the bladder, possibly EC related

I would get him checked over by your Vet as it is not 'normal' for a Rabbit to remain wet/damp with urine. Also, as the weather warms up being urine soiled will put him at greater risk of flystrike, even if he is a House Rabbit.

yes thats what i was thinking- ive had a bun with flystrike so i know how horrid it is :( im others need their jabs so i will try and get them all booked in tommorow or tuesday. ive noticed his eye has been a bit damp too actually :( at least he is insured so no worries with cost

ok so charlie is on metacam as his bladder seems swollen and sore :( he is on abx for urine infection but also panacur as it could be ec. i have to treat honey as well. i have to get a urine sample but he is now refusing to wee when im there!! an appt for 1 week has been made as if no improvement then he will need bloods done.

he took the matacam really nicely but the rest will be a nightmare as he is NOT good with meds that taste nasty!
