  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Vaccination

Jojo123

Mama Doe
I have a 12 week old doe who lives indoors and i am going to have her vaccinated before the summer, but its a nice day out today so was wondering if it would be too risky to let her have a run in the garden?

I personally wouldn't risk it and I would get her vaccinated sooner rather than later as indoor buns need vaccinating anyway. We saw some gnats yesterday and biting insects spread myxi and there's been a case of VHD in Kidderminster.

Thanks i will leave it then! Going to book her in this week and get a booster for my other bunny, didnt think that flies carry it too

i wouldn't risk it either, vhd can be caught by your rabbit when outside (or even inside) with no contact with another rabbit - as the virus is carried by birds, insects, cats and dogs (if they carry wild rabbit droppings on their paws) etc. i'd definitely vaccinate asap :thumb:

Will def do that this week then, thought she would be ok being inside for the moment glad i asked:thumb:
