Need RABBIT SAVVY vet B46 Midlands UD post 13

UsagiYojimbo

Alpha Buck
Please can I have some more options in the Midlands area

Pype Hays was recommended from here and the RWAF however they failed Leo miserably, they are NOT rabbit savvy i..e exotic pets specialists, I was told by them to try another vets that specialized in exotic pets.

Second vet Damson Vets have been very very good however I'd like a second opinion as you can read from my previous post the vet is not comfortable performing a lung wash.

Need a vet who is able to perform lung wash and analyse results.

Please help I need to get Leo in first thing Monday.

Thank you

Need a vet who is able and willing to perform blood tests for EC detection, full blood works, able to spot things on x-rays and also provide ultrasound (and analysis?) and do a lung wash and analyse samples.

Please help I need to get Leo in first thing Monday.

Thank you
Can you get as far as Cambridge? not sure which pat of the midland you are in

If you can get to Cambridge then you can see the excellent Mrs Ford at Cambridge Vet Centre 01223 249331

Manor Vets in Edgbaston specialise in exotics and have a rabbit specialist called Marie Kubiak. She was extremely highly recommended to us by someone on this forum, has been great so far and seems to really know what she's doing.
Good luck and all the best for Leo.

I can personally recommend de Montfort Veterinary Surgery in Evesham, Worcs.

I have used them for many years and have always been very happy with the service offered and their excellent knowledge of rabbits.

Best of luck for Leo.xx

I would second Marie Kubiak

Have you tried Oakfield? I used to take Poppy there but once I got more rabbits it got too expensive as they can be pricey! But the vets I have seen at our 2 local Oakfield's have been very good.

Post code for the one in B'ham - B36 0LN

Our vets that we use now are Riversmeet and they are fab, they have 2 practices. One in Tamworth (B79 7QE) and the other in Atherstone (CV9 1BH).

Don't know if they're too far for you x

I second this recommendation, and Edgbaston isn't all that far from you.

Actually, it looks like I'm fourthing this recommendation :)

I would always recommend Mark at Trinity in Maidstone but that may be a way for you. He has helped Doughnut so much and now only trust him with her.

I recommended Marie Kubiak to the OP when he/she posted a little while ago.

Willows veterinary referral centre are excellent too . Just ask for a vet specialised in rabbits - they have plenty to choose from .

Just to update you all, I think I was a little too hasty with not trusting the vet at Damson House Vets.

My vet has been in talks with Manor House Vets at Edgebaston and they have come to the same conclusions, and they both have experience with rabbits and are exotic specialists.

Neither have had experience with lung wash in rabbits and both suggested the same procedure/treatment going forward.

The conclusion is that we are giving Leo a full course of antibiotics (baytril and penicillin injections) as well as Metacam twice a day and the lapizole. Maximum dosages of everything.

The results of the x-rays are the same showing patches on his lungs.

Back at the vets next Monday.

Thank you everyone for your help, I should have just trusted my vet in the first place!

That's great news! Fingers crossed all goes well for Leo.
