Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Amonia smells in hutches/cages?

scatter

Alpha Buck
Hi, sorry to be disgusting, but you know the urine marks you get in plastic cages (my two are house bunnies that are locked in their hutches overnight). I do disinfect them every so often (though can never completely get rid of the stains) and I change their litter every day, I can't smell anything at all when I clean them out, but is it dangerous to have ammonia smells/stains in the hutch....if you see what I mean:?

Funny question!

Ammonia fumes can irritate rabbits' eyes and noses, causing Snuffles. Which bedding do you use? I use newspaper and hay and never have an ammonia smell. Also, if you put a litter tray in the hutch with newspaper and hay, you might find the rabbits will start going in that.

Hi - yes, they do go in the litter tray, but also use a corner:roll: I have tried moving the tray there, but it didn't work:D I actually have newspaper and a bit of Back2Nature pelleted litter.
