  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Vibes needed, epileptic bunny

Can Bindi have any spare positive vibes going around right now. Mums just come and got me from work early as she's had a massive fit and hasn't come round properly yet. We're on our way to the vets right now.
I can't lose my little girl yet, not after everything she has fought against with this already

They've admitted her for observation for the day, taking her blood glucose to see what it is and possibly giving her glucose, diazepam, and possibly a syringe feed.
She still wasn't properly round an hour after she started fitting, and didn't know where her feet were, responses were slow. I trust the practice and individual vet who saw her so hopefully she will be ok for a bit longer, they plan to phone about five.
Eddie is out of sorts too, he always knows when she's had a fit and is most confused where she is and hiding in the shed.

Thank you everyone.
Little missy has surprised everyone and has now been released from the vets, she's come round lots more and hopefully the bits and tiredness that aren't her normally are just because she's dosed up on diazepam. She's on a slightly higher level of meds for the next couple of weeks then hopefully we might be able to go back down to normal levels. Also been prescribed rectal diazepam in case she has another one over two minutes or a cluster of them.
She's done good, and hopefully we have some more time with her. She even had the vet receptionist worried about her (her and Eddie are very well known in our vets :s).
Lots of observations of her again, and I must be the only person hoping it goes cooler again after today's day of sun!
