I cant believe it! She was her usual fussy self when I went out, hopping round me and licking, coming for fusses. When I get home, I usually take her into the living room for an hour, then she goes back into the kitchen for the night, but she seemed terrified, ran away when I tried to stroke her, I managed to catch her and take her into the living room where she calmed down abit.

She binkied, had her supper, flicked some poo out. She still wouldn't come near me and I've spent 20 mins trying to get her into the kitchen. She finally went in and stamped her feet a lot, and hid behind her cage, she hopped inside her cage.

I went to stroke her, she licked my hand so I just went to stroke her head and she let out a growl like I've never heard before and lunged at me! She's drawn blood and its incredibly sore... What could be causing her to behave like this!!? I even went as far as to accuse my mum of letting the dog in the kitchen or picking her up and dropping her. I just can't believe it, I hope she doesn't hate me still tomorrow :(

I poked my fingers through the side of the cage and shes licking them like nothing just happened :|

Where have you been today? My bunnies are terrified when I smell of ferret ...that's not very often fortunately. Nothing else seems to bother them but if Lola is more sensitive, possibly she can smell something on you that is scaring her. Try changing your clothes and having a shower. Bunnies are very senstivive to things like this.

Is she spayed? Is she ok with other people? Sometimes bunnies can act like this when they are in pain.

it may be she can smell something that scares her from your clothes.
Try a change and a shower and see how she reacts.
It could also be hormones kicking in, what age is she?

I havent been anywhere I dont usually go, like I said, she was fine with me before I went to OH's, and I go to his every night and she's always been fine but I don't know whats got into her tonight.

She doesnt seem in pain, eating drinking pooping binkying, having her mad 5 minutes running around, fine when she's not near me :|

She's alright with everyone in general, but she'll only lick me, never my mum. If you sit on the floor she usually comes and plonks her bum on your knee, or if your sat on the sofa she hops onto, I uploaded pics to her just last night of her doing that, but now she doesnt want to know me!

She's probably about 15 weeks now, so no she's not spayed. I'm booking her for her vaccs this week though and to make sure "she" is a "she".

I've gone to bed, but I'll shower in the morning and see how she is, she was genuinely terrifed though, but still licked me? I just can't understand the change in the space of 2 hours

Angel used to be a bit nippy and funny with me sometimes,
She'll be coming u on 4 months so it more than likyl will be the hormones. xxx

Lilly's been acting terrified of my recently too :( and Harvey's been acting nervous of me :( both are normally not like that at all. I've been trying to work out the problem, and was thinking it is just Spring. I'd think maybe with Lola it could be that too, but it could be hormones, this is about the age they kick in I think, so maybe she was feeling funny and a bit scared as a result?

Lilly bit me once, I was very upset :( I forgave her very fast though  I have a lovely scar that I like to show her and be like "look what you did to mummy!!!" :p

It just seems so strange that she's completely changed in a matter of 2 hours... I hope she loves me again tomorrow :(

Hopefully she could just smell something she didnt like.. I'm sure I'll find out in the morning :|

How old are they when they can be spayed, or for males, when they can have the chop? If she is a he, then theres no sign of any testicles yet :|

I never had any of this with Misty, but I guess every bunny is different.

It depends on the vet to be honest. I called around a few vets (I had to choose whether it was most convenient to have Lilly spayed in Bristol where I had no car, or over Easter when I stayed at my parents for just over a week but had a car) and most said 16 weeks IF they're big enough, and all rabbits from 20 weeks (although some said smaller breeds they'd like to wait a bit longer so they could grow to full size as that can be at 6-7 months). Lilly was spayed at 16 weeks, she was 2.2kgs. I said to the vet "she's 2.2kgs, is that anywhere near big enough?" and they said "oh yes, certainly, that's absolutely plenty!" so I'm not sure what the weight cut off is but 2.2 is definitely over!

Bunnies are so fickle  Lilly bit me because she wouldn't pose for a photo and I kept on putting her back in the same spot every time she moved, after the 10th time she told me no with her teeth

Shes not a small rabbit, I'll have to ask when I go and then save some money, she should be more than 2kg though I reckon. I'll have to see what the vet says when she goes for her vaccs. I'm just shocked more than anything :| and emotionally scarred

Hopefully she'll be fine tomorrow :D she was probably just spooked by something small or a bit hormonal, or maybe she had a nightmare :P if she still wanted to lick you she's obviously still your friend :D I hope things are back to normal in the morning!

Ah, I'm always being bitten by my buns! They rarely bite hard but they are very bossy and will nip me when I'm ignoring them or doing something they disapprove of. Fiver was lovely when he was a baby and as soon as he hit about 4 months, he got very hormonal and grumpy. I got him neutered asap but he never really changed. Having said that, he is a very bossy, dominant bunny and this is why. Lola sounds like she has quite a submissive personality since she licks you but this may all change when she becomes a "teenager"!

To me, it sounds like a mixture of hormones and something she doesn't like. Perhaps your bf changed his deodorant or something!

Oh dont let the licking fool you, shes very demanding! Usually hops all over you to demands fuss, thats why this is such a shock, I felt quite wounded when she wouldnt come near me. I'm used to nipping buns, Misty was a ****** for it  but it really was like an attack, she really lunged for it with nails and teeth and growls, it was so out of character completely, not just a nip :| I'll let you know what happens in the morning!! I have to be up at 7, so should probably get some sleep.. I think I'll be worrying all night though about whether my bunny now hates me :( lol xx

Been in the shower, washed my hair. Just got to dry it, then ill put on the dressing gown she normally sits on.

I know this sounds completely stupid, but I genuinely feel as though I've lost another rabbit :( she's gone from a confident, friendly bunny to a skittish, hidey unsociable one in the matter of 2 hours :|

I've just phoned up, booked her in for her vaccinations for tomorrow so I'll get him to check her over. She honestly seems fine when left alone, she hasn't stopped eating, there's a million nice poops in her litter tray, and she's hopping about fine, doesn't seem to be uncomfortable or anything. I'll ask him when she can be spayed too.

She hops around feet a lot too, which she's still doing but as soon as you bend over she runs away again :( hopefully this shower might have some effect when I go downstairs. Goodness knows how im going to get her in the carrier tomorrow if she won't be picked up :(

:( that's a shame that she's not back to her normal self :( sounds like she's being a bit of a grumpy teenager to me! My two definitely don't have that excuse, all their hormonal bits have gone! When you've had her spayed she should go back to normal but it can take a few weeks, just keep up letting her no you love her and she'll come around and remember :thumb: I'm going to go lie on the floor with my two at some point, almost myself with them! They don't mind me but they're acting scared of me too so hopefully this will remind them I'm a friend! Maybe you could try something like that?

I'm sat on the floor in the clothes we were snuggling in the other night, she sniffs me and then runs away :( she's usually hopping all over me licking and nudging my hand for fusses, she's not even licking me now, just sniffing like she doesn't even know who I am :(

It might take some time for her to feel better about things depending what upset her. Time and patience could work though, have you got a good book you can sit on the floor and read? Try not to get too upset, I'm sure she loves you, she's just not showing it in the most obvious ways! If you keep showing her love she'll start showing you love back (even if it takes a while)

Silly bunnies! Harvey seems to have forgiven me, but Lilly's still off :(

sounds hormonal and as its spring it can be brought on like this quickly

Vegan_Bunny
02-04-2013, 12:15 PM
As Lucy said, spring can make bunnies a little crazy. It sounds like she is being hormonal. When I say Fiver "nips" me..I mean he lunges and growls at me, boxes and nips me if I annoy him. Most of my friends are scared of him because he is so grumpy.

Just a thought, is she moulting? My bunnies get very angry when they are having a heavy moult!

Get her teeth and eyes checked at the vets. Xena (my doe) lunges at me sometimes if I spook her or walk passed her quickly. She is blind in one eye and has cataracts in both, took me a while to realise why she was acting aggressive towards me but when I learnt about her poor vision, I adjusted how I was with her and we get along brilliantly now. :thumb:

Obviously it is probably only hormones and spring fever so I wouldn't worry too much. Just best to get her checked out just in case. Good luck!

chloeturner

So the vet checked her over, tummy and lungs sound fine. She's 2kg exactly, they said they'd like to wait a little longer before spaying her and she's definitely a she :thumb: picked her up in the vets, first cuddle all day! And she let me give her a cuddle at home but she's hopped under the table and is going to sleep, probably the vaccination. Just said if she doesn't perk up to take her back! Xxx

mine changed over night from enjoying strokes etc to not wanting to be touched they were about 15 weeks old they were both neutered at 16 weeks they are now 7 months and still not overly keen on being fussed but are gradually coming out the over side of it and being more relaxed instead of dashing about i thinks its just something they go through ..

i know it was only 2 hours but actually 2 hours is a long time in rabbit time i think most rabbits prefer not to be picked up and prefer to be stroked after all they are not cuddly toys i don't blame them for getting angry it must be quite annoying

Fiver was the same. He still loves me and we have snuggles every night and morning but it took him a while to settle down. He still growls and nips/boxes but I just have to understand what he is telling me and when he is in the mood for snuggles. He only wants nose rubs on his terms, not mine. :)

Don't despair. You can have her spayed soon and hopefully she will calm down.

Any thought of getting her a friend in the future? Fiver seemed to really chill out once I had a friend for him. I think half the problem with him is that he is very intelligent and active and gets bored very easily, which makes him even more frustrated and angry lol.

She still licks me, sometimes really enthusiastically so she cant hate me that much :| I wasn't treating her like a teddy bear, I respect her space but her space was my space so we had loads of cuddles. She has come and sat on my knee tonight and stretched to lick my nose, then hopped away. "I still love you mummy, just don't touch me" lol :|

The people I got her off just plonked her in a hutch with 2 other rabbits and from what they said it sounds like the other 2 rabbits attacked her, so I'd be very wary of getting her a bunny friend. I haven't got the space for another separate indoor set up if things didn't pan out so I'd probably have to either "loan" a bunny (if you can even do that" or take her along somewhere to see if there was a bunny she wasn't terrified of :( it's definitely something I'll seriously consider in the future, but I wont get all eager on that until I have her spayed and her hormones settle down, then I'll see whats suitable :thumb:

Oh another bunny wouldn't be fore a while yet, if you did decide to consider it. I think she would be ok, you can go to rescues and have "bunny dates". They can even bond them for you so there is no need to worry too much. :) Like I said this is in the future but worth considering!

I don't think Lola hates you! Have you had a read through this website? http://language.rabbitspeak.com/

i think you have it all under control try not to over analyse it , its not about her not liking you my bonded pair get fed up with each other sometimes and sit away on their own, she clearly still wants to be petted but perhaps not picked up so she moves just in case....

maybe just pet her for now and don't do the cuddle thing they are animals first and the cuddling is something we humans think they want in fact when they are lifted the fear factor sets in i hope you don't mind me saying but in the pic of her being cuddled she does not look happy she looks uncomfortable with it rabbits always look so relieved once they are put back on the ground ...

my pair of bonded rabbits will sit next to me climb over me get underneath me they hate being picked up i only pick them up if i need to put them somewhere ie carrier box i don't do the cuddle thing they get lots of strokes and nose rubs and they are very relaxed around me...

She had just had her injections and they made her a little sleepy, she stayed there for a while when she'd ran away from me all day, if she hadn't wanted to stay I'm sure she wouldn't of done, just had my hand around her for the photo  (was sat on the floor, so she wouldn't of hurt herself if she hopped away)
