Small poop. UD: Gone in for dental. UD: He's home!!

My Woody has had considerably smaller poops for 2 days. I clean him out everyday and it only started 2 days ago.

He is a dental bun and is seeing a specialist on Wed about his bad spurs.

Should I give him some Zantac and Metoclopramide that the vet gave me the last time he had a GA for dental?

HELP!!

Definitely give him some pain relief as small poos are probably a sign that bun isn't eating as much due to pain. What, and how much does he usually eat? can you moitor how much he is eating and how long he takes to eat? Is he eating slower and making strange mouth movements or dropping food. If he usually eats pellets and is eating less or slower, try dipping them in water and giving him soft wet pellets may help keep his gut going. You may need to do this every couple of hours till his poops return to normal size.

If eating and poops stop completely then I'd give if the metoclopromide ( is that in injection form?) and continue monitoring eating & poops. But I'd try to get him booked in for dental straight away. My vets will do it same day I phone.

Thank you. Today he ate his food considerably slower. The vet told me to up his SS pellets so I have. He usually eats his pellets in 10 mins but took all day today. But he ate about half a cup full. So he is eating but poo is small.

- I am worried about stasis??

He is gnawing (even when no food is in his mouth). His mouth movements are very odd.

I am sooooooo worried :(

Sounds as though a spur is hurting him.
Do you have metacam in the house as well?

Yes I have metacam and a syringe. Should I administer some?

I just went out and gave him some wet carrot tops which he is enjoying now.

If it were one of mine then I would give him a wee dose and try to get him to continue eating even if it's just wee bits.
vets first thing in the am for you it is.
Sound's as though he'll need a dental as soon as possible.
Is he eating hay at all?
*hugs*

It was metacam the vet gave me last time he had bad spurs and underwent GA.

Hay intake is minimal - I have just given him some hay cubes so hopefully he will go for them.

His weight is 2.27 kilos (weighed today)

Last time they told me to give him 8 drops daily.

On the packet it says: Metacam 1.5mg oral suspension for dogs.

he can have 0.9 ml and that will give him pain relief for 8-12 hrs.
the dose is 0.4ml per kg of bunny.
If he's still nomming little bits then I wouldn't think you'd have to syringe feed him, but certainly try soaking pellets in water for him.

Thank you very much. So 0.9 ml of the dog metacam?

Thank you :thumb:

yep that's what I'd give.
my vet told me the doses in case I ever needed to use them.
how's he doing now?
Is he still pooing?
You may have to make him move about a wee bit to keep his tummy moving.

He is eating but far slower than he usually would. I softened his pellets and he doesn't seem too interested in that so I also put his normal ones in there.

He has pooped in the night which is good, he has also had a couple wees.

I know it is his teeth because he is holding his mouth in a very funny way, particularly when he picks up food.
