I'm going to vent my spleen  so please don't read any further if you may find this upsetting..... I need to rant.
Following on from this thread http://forums.rabbitrehome.org.uk/s...scared-I-m-going-to-see-the-vet-lady-tomorrow.
My ickle teeny tiny sweetie went in for her spey & teeth check today cost £52.95 bargain considering she was going to have invasive surgery.
I arrived at the vets with both my pooch and bunny. Expecting as usual, a bun health check on arrival (weight, heart & gut sound) prior to her departing for her spey.
At the same time I had my pooch booked in, as with all the howling gales I suspect some hay had blown in her eye and caused irritation.
Routine as I thought. Pooch on table less than 5mins, fluoroscene drops and 10 sec glare with occular, prescription for fucithalmic ointment and relieved us of £45.
Vet then announces..... "I'm allergic to buns so I don't want to do the checks, it will be done at our main surgery when she goes there for spey":shock:
I was very suprised at this because at no time of the booking did they mention the vet wouldn't be able to perform the usual checks. Being very trusting I said ok and left my ickle sweetie in her trusty hands. I have had buns speyed before at this surgery and never had such an impersonal consultation but put it down to said vet having a morning moody.
6 hours later I get phonecall....she's all done and ready to be collected at local branch. I tried to enquire what her health was like prior to spey etc the nurse said oh you will get a full report on discharge.
I went along to collect and was greeted with nurse bundling buns carrier onto counter saying there you go all done thats £82.95. Naturally I enquired why another £30 had been added to buns bill. Nurse said she had 2 lower molars burred. Ok so why was I not informed....nurse replied oh have they not rang you?
What I can only describe as a lively conversation that involved me relaying questions about my ickle buns health and the nurse scurrying off to ask the vet said questions ensued. At the point I started to ask was there any chance I could have a conversation with the vet who had cared for her, for a verbal conversation/report as I was told I would get and expected...... the vet although not having anyone else waiting rather reluctantly saw us. Again I had questions and her reply was yes she had spurs I burred them.......that was it.
She was totally uncaring gave me the impression I shouldn't be asking questions and answered with very curt one word sentences.
In the end I had to ask my local rescue, that I foster for, for advice.
Letter of complaint winging its way to vets and I will never use said vets ever again. Useless sack of *&^YG$£".
