  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Big lump of poo on Mr Bennetts bottom.

This unfortunately this does happen with him occasionally and the vet gave me profibre, which he loves. I find the occasional lump in his litter tray and about once a fortnight a good poo in his litter tray. I have told my vet this.

This afternoon found a massive squiggy poo and I had to wash his bottom. I wet my hands over and over again and worked it out from his fur, there was a tiny bit on his tummy too. I had to use the blow drier to dry him off as much as possible, which he didn't like but am worried as he has had a recent chest infection. I have phoned my vet but she isn't in today.

I am at a loss at what to do. He has tons of hay, 2 small portions of SS a day and the profibre and a crunchie. A few nights a week he gets dill and some basil, mainly dill. He hasn't had any dill for 3 days as we haven't got any. I don't give him veg as I worry it will make him runny, only a very occasional small portion of carrot. He has never had greens or broccoli.
