  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Woody was in my arms (I was sat in a high-ish chair). He got agitated and jumped from my arms onto the floor. He landed on his side. He jumped straight up and ran around the house for about 20mins. No sign of injury. No sign of pain. I checked him over and he didn't seem distressed at all. Running, jumping and getting into small spaces as normal.

Nothing to worry about?

He may be a bit bruised so he could stiffen up later.

I cant give you a 100% guarantee that he has no real injuries, he would need to be examined to determine that

But as you say he is running around as normal it seems unlikely that he has done any major damage. I would keep an eye on him and especially be vigilant re his eating and poo output. If he landed head first he may have broken a tooth

Okay thanks Jane. I am sooooo mad with myself - he never usually fidgets, it just came out of nowhere and I couldn't get him down quick enough. I will pay very close attention to him. Thank you.
