  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Fibreplex..

This has worked wonders with Pippin in the past but I was wondering can it be used a a 'boost' or will it eventually start to stop being so effective?

She's 11 months old and has been prescribed it by a vet twice but I bought some for emergencies so I have one at the moment.

Pippin has moved from outdoors to indoors in a new house and she's perfectly fine but she usually has amazing huge golden poo but now they're smaller and not quite as golden. Would it be okay to give her fibreplex to help her along or would that be pointless/dangerous for when she really needs it?

A few days of Fibreplex should be fine :)

It may be the stress of a new environment that has effected her gut motility xx

That's what I was thinking bless her, she's still eating hay well but I guess that will just help her along. Thank you :) xx

I give fibreplex to my indoor buns Olly and Honey when they are moulting (which is often) as they tend to struggle passing the fur through their gut without it. They do eat plenty of hay, it's just the way they are :?
