Help please with hand feeding 7 day old bunny

Solarwind

Young Bun
We have a 7 day old baby bunny that we are trying to hand feed by syringe but she seems to be taking less. She is still lively.

Any suggestions please would be appreciated. I have never done this before.

Thanks
Christine

Why is she/he being hand reared ?

What milk substitute are you giving ? Are you weighing her/him to monitor her/his progress ?

Is there another lactating Doe with kits of a similar age whom you could foster her/him onto ?

basically what jane sadi rabbits are nutouriously difficult to hand rear i believe goats milk is the best substitute but nothing compares to mums own, has the syringe got a teat on it? was baby suckling previously? where is mum ? also how is babys tummy it should be round and fat. x

Hi

She is being hand reared because her mother has insufficient milk and has stopped feeding her. The mother is only four months old, she and her brother were rescued by a neighbour of ours from a neglectful owner.
She is getting milk meant for kittens: Bearphar Kitty Milk . Unfortunately there is no other lactating doe.
She has not been weighed but does not appear to have put on any weight.
I rang the vet who said to feed her three times each day about 1 ½ mils each time. She took that and more to begin with yesterday but since her last feed at 6am she has taken very little milk.
Thank you for your response
Christine

Hi
No the syringe has no teat though we tried a bottle with a teat but she will not suck. Her mother has stopped her feeding a couple of days ago, we think because she has no milk. Her tummy is slightly extended after a feed but not the same as it did when mum fed her.

Thanks for replying

Christine
