Just found out about a stray rabbit near me....

That some :censored: idiot has set loose in a park! Poor thing has been there all winter :(

I really want to go and look for it but the park is a big one...I have no idea how to go about it :( any suggestions?

just keep waking around the park with a pet carrier and see if you spot it..it may be tame, it may come to you if it is hungry. It is more likely to run off though, but if you can get an idea of where in the park it is, you could then call in the RSPCA who may have more specialised equipment.

Take some apple or carrot as they're sweet treats, or some rabbit muesli which it's likely to have been used to to try and tempt it into a carrier.

Has it been spotted recently? It may have moved on, hopefully it's OK. If you know it's there I would call the RSPCA too, the more help the better in finding it.

I agree with taking some treats and a pet carrier and just slowly walking the park in the early mornings mostly and evening when rabbits are most active.

Thanks everyone. From what I understand, it has been spotted recently and is usually seen in a relatively quiet area, away from where kids play etc. If I feel any better tomorrow I might go there and have a look, if not I will do on Monday afternoon. I can't stop thinking about it :(

I found Lily loose in a field, this was my experience of catching her.

I think she was hungry as she had been living wild. I took a front opening box and put in a bowl with lots of food, treats, banana seemed to be the most popular. I called her over very gently so she got used to my voice. The I waited a good distance away for a long time until she went towards the box. I think I left a trail of treats to encourage her in. I had to go back and do the same procedure every day for 3 days before she had the confidence to eat for long enough for us to close the box. Lily never moved very far from the first location I found her each time I went back.

I tried phoning the RSPCA to see whether I could loan a net or trap but they weren't very helpful in this area - that may vary elsewhere.

Oh, and don't forget to keep the bunny in isolation from any other pets if you do catch her of course.

Best of luck xx

Good luck in catching the poor thing - I hope you are successful.

I personally wouldn't bother with the RSPCA; they are a waste of space.

I once phoned them to catch a fox which had a huge lump on its side :( so was obviously unwell. They told me to catch it and then they'd come and take it off my hands. How pathetic was that? :censored:
