Odd bald patch! Help!

New Kit
Hi everyone! hope you and all your bunnies are well :)

My (beloved but cheeky) baby rabbit Bilbo is 8 weeks old, and I've noticed he has what seems to be a bald patch at the nape of his neck. I realise that the hair they have in the part is more sparse than other areas but i can definitely see a lot more skin than what I reckon would be normal.

I hope its not something I've caused! You see when I first adopted him he was scratching at his ears quite a bit, so reckoning that he had ear mites (after some research) I took the more natural approach of treating it and used olive oil. The ear scratching has stopped (yay!) but now I've noticed this patch and I'm wondering if its anything dangerous. I need your expert eyes guys! I have read about fur mites, but I don't see any redness, itching, scabs, dandruff, dry skin, rough patches in that area, just normal bunny skin!

What could have caused it? over brushing in that area? molting (I know he's a bit young)? Will it grow back?

My first guess is mites, with him being so young I would take him to a vet to get his ears checked and his neck, mites are easily treated.

I had bought the anti parasite spot on for rabbits by beaphar during the preparation to get him, would that be something I could use to treat him at such a young age?

I think I would hold off using home treatment,it is weight measured and I'm not sure if it's suitable for baby buns.
Personally I would go to the vet.

I'd say, when in doubt, check with your vet.

However, my lionhead bun Peabody has currently got a few bald patches at the nap of her neck (just at the base of her ears). Hers was caused by moulting and subsequent matting (at her foster home, not mine), so in grooming (her grooming, her bun friend Emerson grooming, and me grooming) it has ended up a bit baldy where the worst of it was happening. It'll grow in over time though, and since her skin is healthy I'm not too fussed about my funny looking bun!
