Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Echinacea/Goldenseal children's liquid o.k. for bunnies?

MimzMum

Wise Old Thumper
I've seen several threads expounding the benefits of liquid concoctions like this in bunnies with recurrent nasal/respiratory issues. Judy's (thumps_) Benjie for one, cpayne's Doughnut for another.
I have purchased two bottles of children's strength Echinacea/Goldenseal liquid to keep in my emergency pack. It is reputed to be an organic preparation with little to no alcohol in.
Mimzy is showing signs of needing a dental soon and he's overdue for an evaluation and provided he comes through it I'd like to start a daily treatment/preventative regimen for him to help keep his stress down. Then again I'm wondering if it might be a good idea to begin some treatment before his dental to boost his system?
I'm just curious if anyone has ever used something like this for a bun who's had head tilt besides upper respiratory/ear issues? Will this interfere with his daily metacam and will it be safe for him to take every day? Does echinacea/goldenseal cause any digestive issues like man made antibiotics do? And do they have to have something on their stomach before taking it?
Many thanks for reading and replies. :)
