Nala's Mummy
Young Bun
My house rabbit Nala about 6 years old (found her on here 4 1/2 years ago) had a dental operation 2 weeks ago to file down the spurs on her molars. We realised there was something wrong when she had stopped eating her pellets - very unusual for her as she loves her food. She continued to eat hay and veg but had a smaller appetite. We took her to the vets and the molars were straight away said to be the problem. However, since her operation she has not returned to her normal self, very reserved - not the cheeky madam we are used to. We have been giving syringe feeding her bio lapis in water (which she hates the taste of), metacam (which she loves) incase she was still in pain, and have started giving her fibreplex and critical care because I'm worried she is in stasis because her poos are smaller and darker and not as many of them (the vet has said her stomach feels and sounds fine). She has also stopped drinking herself altogether - even though the vet has said she is not dehydrated. She has now developed noisy breathing, her eyes and nose are watering, the inside of her ears were once pink now white, I can see the white around her eyes more and this morning she was swaying slightly - I fear she has ''Snuffles'' she is booked in for an X ray and blood tests tomorrow. I understand most rabbits carry the Pasteurella and the stress of the dental could have caused it to become an illness...? I am worried about her going under GA again... any advice, similar experience and treatment suggestions would be hugely appreciated. She was so healthy and happy just 2 weeks ago.
