Would you take a vet to the small claims court?

If you'd spent £350 at a specialist vets and overall had ended up paying over £1,000 to various other vets because they said your rabbit was OK and they were wrong, would you take the practice to the small claims court?

She is apparently one of the best in the country and gives talks on rabbits!

I work for a solicitors so my friend who deals with negligence will help me. Just don't fancy going to a hearing if it comes to that!

Chances are the threat of being taken to court & bad publicity may make them pay up before it gets to court. Did you not get a reply back from the letter you sent to the vet?

Yes sent a long email to the practice manager. She said she's consulted with the specialist, senior vet and senior nurse and Doughnut was entirely normal and her behaviour is normal. They are totally dismissing she has been ill.

Now she's been on the right medication the throat rubbing has stopped, they are saying it is chin rubbing. The noises have stopped and she's still wet on and off but that did clear up when she was on three medicines. Now she is only on metacam it has come back after she has eaten but does go away again.

This is all so frustrating!

I would ask friend to help you with a letter which basically says that you do not accept their response as you have evidence from subsequent vets that she was severely ill, and that you will be proceeding with legal action against them. At the very least you are entitled to compensation for the money you paid to them. I think a well worded letter with the threat of legal action may push them in the right direction.

To be honest no, not unless there was clear evidence of malpractice. Diagnosis is tricky and I don't think you will win.

Try this first and see where you get. Good luck
