Well iv been having probs with Grayson's toileting habits. As I had a full section of his cage as a foraging/digging area, he pretty much lived under all the cosy substrate, sleeping (A LOT!), food storage... And peeing!!! It made it very difficult to keep clean as i didnt want to keep disturbing his nest but he peed right at the bottom so i ended up kist having to chuck the lot out each time. He seems to like peeing close to where he sleeps so I was trying to come up with a different layout so that his bed was only big enough to sleep in, so hopefully he won't pee in it! And I have provided him with a 'potty' and potty litter, so fingers crossed!!

Thanks :wave: I'll have to try and video him washing sometime it's so cute! He's really quick! Most pics just come out as blurs :lol:

Thanks :wave: I know that was my thought too! I realised he didn't have any flat solid areas, even just to sit on if he wanted. I might get a couple more and make it a bigger platform. He seems more active so even tho I feel mean maybe its good not to let him get too comfortable and be lazy :lol: He was even out this morn when I got up collecting food :D he doesn't seem to be burrowing down into the bed tho so I hope it's ok for him, there is room but last night he just slept where I could c his little face in the hole :love: Very cute but hope he doesn't feel 'exposed'!! :roll:
 
Needn't have worried about his bed, just got home from work and he's made it nice and snuggly and hid himself under the bedding :thumb: Not figured out where he's weed yet tho...

Thanks! It's a glass display cabinet from ikea called the Detolf, if u google Detolf cage or similar ul c how other people have used them in a similar way! It's only £40 too! So cheap considering its 5ft long!!

Thanks for that! :thumb: I honestly have to say that is the BEST hamster housing I have ever seen!!!! I'll be showing my kids in school tomorrow (I'm a teacher and one of my pupils is researching getting a hamster so has been reading lots of books about how to keep them...she'll love that!)..I hope you don't mind?

Aaw haha no course I don't mind I'm all for educating children on caring for animals :D There r more if u google, I can't take credit for the idea :lol:
 
Update!

Well iv found where Grayson has been peeing... In his bed! :evil: Hard to be mad at the cutie but its so annoying! And the bed is of course made of wood so hard to clean... He had done one in his potty but seems only one :( Iv just put a bit of smelly bedding in the potty and hope this teaches him :roll: He has wee and food at base of bed topped with bedding that he sleeps in :roll: yuk!! Maybe just gonna have to get an easy to clean bed and empty it out every couple of days but hate disturbing his nest and food stash :(
