  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Can anyone recommend a skin cream for buns??

My lionlop has scaly 'dandruff like' patches on her back, vet has tested and says there are no mites or anything - I would like to use a cream or lotion if advisable for her. Also my REW mini lop has a tiny sore on her heel (sore hock) it's not bad but I would like to put something on it - any advice would be welcome x

 One of mine had "dry" bits on her lower half last year and we treated her with the mite stuff (even though vet said the tests were inconclusive) as it would not do her any harm. It did seem to clear up.

I would not try to put cream on a bun unless it was necessary and then only on the advice of the vet.

With regards to hocks, with Homey I used to make sure his hocks were clean and rub a little sudocrem in. His skin was only pink/reddish and not broken and it is what my vet advised.

Always check with your vet just in case ;)

I can't recommend vet gold highly enough. It worked wonders on Trevor. You can get it from vetuk and is all natural stuff:wave:
