  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

My rabbit `Lady Guyer` had 2 babys 3 weeks ago, one is quite large and fat and is hopping aroung the cage just like his mum, where the other is half the size, quite skinny and kinda `swims` round the cage with its head and legs just flopped on the floor. it has a little bit of a blocked nose and a sticky eye which i have wiped away with water and cotton wool. any answers as to weather its ok or not? thanks

Not and I would suggest you take him/her to a Vet as a matter of urgency.

Are you weighing him/her daily to be sure he/she is gaining weight/feeding OK

Definitely needs the vets. I would take the other baby and mum along for the ride too, so baby doesn't come back smelling different to them. I'd put babies in one carrier and mum in another, in case she steps on the ill one, as it doesn't sound like he can move out the way.

i havent weighed them but i can see it is getting bigger and fatter it just dosent seem to be doing it very fast. its always been half the size of the other one!

Will you be able to get them to a vet tomorrow?

Good luck wishes for them all but particularly your little one. S/he deserves the best chance at life you can give her. :thumb:

yes, im taking her tomorrow. Bless her, she`s the most beautiful little rabbit i`ve ever seen. :thumb:

just got back from the vets and he seems to think its ok. he said the bigger one is just quite advanced for its age where as the smaller one is quite slow for her age, he couldnt find anything medically wrong with her and said she will hop in her own time, but just to keep an eye on her.
