Bunny drinking 2x of the usual amount

Hello bunbuds,

I have a question regarding the drinking habits of my bun. I'm looking for opinion, suggestions, etc...
So our bun is almost 3 now, it is safe to say I know his eating/drinking habits by now... During the last 2,5-2,7 years he has been drinking pretty much the same amount...sometimes a little less, sometimes a little more. But since a couple of days, he drinks way more, twice as much as before.
Last Thursday I brought home some dried herbs for him... The brand is naturals, and I've brought two sacks, a "Dandelion delight" and "Herbal Garden". It's nothing fancy, not those silly crackers n stuff people buy to their pets, proper natural things...herbs and greens, nothing more. So... do you think he might be drinking more because of that? I mean they are dried so he might drink more because of that. Bear in mind, he is not a major hay-monster, and his diet consists of a tiny pinch of Excel pellets in the morning, same amount before going to bed... constant hay, and fresh, organic watercress.. occasionally, a 1cm 'big' piece of a banana, apple or orange..fruit is a rare treat, he rarely gets any. I give him these dried herbs since Thursday more times a day, cause it seems to be functioning like hay, and he likes them far more... (He is not losing weight, not having any problem with his guts, etc...so it's not the kidney thing)

So, what do you think? can the herbal forage be responsible for his increased drinking habit now?

The herbal forage could be responsible for the increased water intake but if I were you, I'd pop him to the vets just in case. Increased drinking can mean a lot of things, from kidney problems to a reaction from a bun in pain. My bun used to increase her water intake dramatically when she was due a dental.

Thank you very much for the suggestion :) I will definitely take him to the vets in case of the slightest change in behaviour.. but he still does the binkies, showering us in kisses, eats fine, poop and urine is healthy, happy as can be... So you know, not transporting him to the vet just for drinking :)

I can understand that. Perhaps just keep an eye on him, if he starts spotting pee about or weeing in unusual places then I'd deffo get him to the vet. That can be an early sign of E.C or kidney/urinary problems. Fingers crossed it's just the dietary change. x

Sure thing... but so far it seems to be normal..knock on wood.. Now I'm trying not giving him forage that much to see if the intake is less...
