  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Sneezing bunny!?

One of my boys starting sneezing when I went out there today. I think I'd woken them up coz they were all huddled and cosy, then he sneezed 3 or 4 times. Stayed out there cleaning them out and stuff and didn't hear anymore sneezing, and he seemed happy enough... ran outside into run, eating grass, ran back in to see what I was doing etc.

Can rabbits just have a little sneezing fit? Like humans do, I'm snotty and sneezy all the time! or is sneezing a bad sign in buns??

They are outside buns who live in a shed with runs attached so I have been a bit worried with all this rain :( poor boys!

Donny and Lola started sneezing once for about a week, randomly, once or twice. Took them to the vets, nothing visibly wrong. Found a load of hay dust in the hay I had been finishing off for that week.

That was the cause :thumb:

Hmmm.. possibility of that, I finished some hay off last week? Also since seeing him sneezing I have just cleaned out everything from shed and replaced with new straw and hay etc which has probably made it worse as I am sneezing like mad now!!!!

Pippa was sneezing a lot and now has a sleeping bag, fleecy side out to sleep on, and the hay damped slightly. Because she lives indoors, I only give small amounts and then just put more out when she has eaten the previous lot.
