Been looking through some old pics and thought I'd show u my previous hamsters!

Aly, u thought ur 1st hamsters cage was bad...

This was my 1st hamster, Mifty  Thankfully she did get lots of out of cage exploration time! I think I got her around 1990 when I was 10

There isn't even a wheel in there but I'm sure we had one... Poor thing there is NOTHING in that cage except a bed and bottle!! Maybe it was being cleaned out and that's why, I hope so!!

I did have another after Oscar that my friend didn't want anymore but I can't find a pic if her, she was called Monica (after Monica on friends!)

So this was my 4th hamster, Badger. The cage is diff, but looks just as bad as the 1st! I don't remember getting a new cage but I think I 'wasn't having anymore hamsters' until I fell in love with Badger in the local pet shop

At the time we knew no better, these cages were the only types u could get with tiny wheels. That's just what u saw, little cages for little animals... But the saddest thing is cages like this are still the majority of what u see available in pet shops, and for people who don't use forums etc will still go and buy hamsters and these little cages because that's all they know, they just think that's what u do :(

So cute

I've seen worse cages! Some of the ones on sale now are horrific. But that's how it was I suppose.

My mom and auntie had a rabbit each when they were young. They started fighting one day so my grandad had to split their 8ft hutch into 2 4ft hutches, but that was considered massive and the 8ft one he built originally, people thought he was mental!

Iv just put a comment on my other post about my 1st rabbits, our friends split their hutch but I'm sure it was prob only 4ft to start with so they would have had 2ft each  I know even then tho I felt so sorry for them and wished we'd never let them take our babies :(
It's good to know that even back then some people had the right idea, my dad built a great hutch for our rabbits :thumb:

Lovely pictures

I've got similar pictures with similar cages from when I was younger but I also got mine out loads in fact they were some of the friendliest hamsters I have ever owned
