  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

When is the right time

Toffee pops

Alpha Buck
My toffee is a very poorly boy,he has multiple absesses in his lungs and at some point soon we will to help him to the brigde,so im totally spoiling him with biscuits and all the things he was never allowed to eat,he is currently on the maximum metacam dose and is in no pain, hes eating poohing drinking and has kinda got a new lease of life but i know thats probably down to me giving him 3 times the amount of metacam he was on,this is my first experiance of this situation and obviously i dont want him to suffer but dont want him to go to early so when is the right time?
Such a hard subject to talk about and im in flood of tears writing this but its something i have to address.

I can only say you will know when the time comes. If he is not in pain, eating and poohing then he seems fine for now. (((hugs)))

I knew the time was right with Harry when he gave up the fight, I could just tell he felt defeated.

Perhaps your bunny might tell you too like that?

Trust your judgement you know him better than anyone else.

Sending vibes.

Exactly that, you know your rabbit better than anyone. Believe me, I know when Doughnut is in pain and is ill even when a specialist said she was fine. She is my first rabbit but when you are close to your pet you will know them very well. As long as he is comfortable now then try to enjoy him as much as possible.

Lots of hugs for you at this awful time. xx

Thx guys, such a horrible thing to happen to him its utterly devastating and i dont think ill ever come to terms with it, the only good thing about it is hes unaware of his fate, but he will leave behind a wifebun and the thought of another bun taking his place is killing me.
Why do such things happen to these wonderful animals.

oh toffee pops what a horrible situation.. wee bunnies always seem to suffer loads, its terrible..

Hugs to you for when the decision is to be made
