  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

My friend claimed to have killed his rabbit

Said his rabbit chewed his shoe so he kicked it in the face and the rabbit died. Next day he claims to be joking... and even if I call RSPCA he'll just refuse them entry into his house. They can't get a search warrant because I don't have evidence he actually killed the rabbit, nor have I witnessed it first hand. Is this true? Think he's really joking or killed his rabbit and now trying to talk his way out? What happens if the RSPCA does manage to obtain a search warrant but can't find any signs of a rabbit or its corpse?

Find out if the rabbit is alive and then report it if he did die. or even if hes not in a good home i would report.

Sorry, no advice but didn't want to read and run. I think I might call the RSPCA for advice.

Why would anybody in their right mind even say anything like that , I would find out if he's still got the bunny sounds like it won't be looked after anyway so I would report him/her

i would ask him outright if he really did.. He might be saying that to wind you up... If he sounds convincing I'd slap his face!,,

Anyone who says this as a "joke" is very misguided. Did he definatly have a rabbit? could he be saying it to upset you? If he had a rabbit ask to see it and offer to re-home it if you can.

I'd tell him straight if he didn't show me the rabbit I'd be phoning the police.

That is if he really did have one in the first place. Have you seen it before?

Have you seen his rabbit? If so where is it now? I would definately contact the Police if it appears to be true, as I am sure they would deal with this, and if the RSPCA then became involved, as I understand it, the Police supply the evidence, statements to support the RSPCA in bringing a conviction.
