Part of the messy fur is from regrowth of the area that was clipped when he had his hormone implant. But he has just started a moult too so he will look a right scruff in the next few days !!

Hope the implant is working. Excuse my ignorance, but what does a hormone implant do ?

Brian looks huge in that first picture. He really isn't that big is he? All beautiful bunnies.:love::love::love:

Brian is tiny !! He only weighs about 1.5kg

He has an adrenal tumour and one of the symptoms is that he has the 'urges' of an entire Buck even though he has been neutered for many years. The hypersexuality was having a very detrimental effect on his quality of life. After speaking with a specialist (Mark Rowlands at Trinity Vets in Maidstone) Laura and C felt that the hormone implant was the most appropriate treatment. Each implant lasts for 6 months. He has had 2 and they have greatly improved his quality of life and that of his friend Bobbie. She is no longer humped all day and night from every angle imaginable. She is also not covered in Brian's wee from where he kept spraying her....... and me and the walls.........

Oh my word poor Brian. Must have been driving him insane. Glad the implant has worked.

Such lovely bunnies
Hope you don't mind me asking which implant Brian has been getting? My bunny Alfie has the same problem but the vets are not sure what treatment options would be safe for him. Also has he had any problems with his eyes at all? Alfie is suffering with uveitis in both eyes but I'm not sure if is related. Sorry for the questions, it is just that Brian is one of the very few rabbits I have heard of with this condition.

I recognize that 'bald spot'...it's the one that Mimzy's been wearing for months. :? Not to mention that fluff is coming out of all three of my rabbits at just about every angle.
What is wrong when they just won't stop shedding in one place or other? :(

Your bunny pix are lovely though.

Brian has had some eye problems, mainly corneal ulceration. He did have some uveitis too. Since having the implants he has not had any flare ups of either, but he does produce excess tears (nasolacrimal ducts are not blocked) I think the excess tears actually help re preventing any further corneal ulceration :? Whether the eye problems are directly related to the adrenal tumour or a result of the stress the hypersexuality caused I dont know :? He really was suffering as the frustration for him was constant. We were almost at the PTS stage  Thankfully Mark at Trinity Vets gave us a treatment option which for Brian has worked very well and given him his life back.

The implant he has is called Suprelorin.

Thank you, I am glad the implant has helped Brian so much. I will need to speak with the vets again and will mention suprelorin. It is horrible seeing him so frustrated, he has been agressive too which is just not like him at all :( The fact that he is now partially sighted won't be helping either. Hopefully we can find something that will help him.
I hope Brian continues to do well on the implant x
